Community Guidelines

Last updated: 28 March 2026 · Section summaries are provided for convenience and are not legally binding.

Rippily is a platform where creators, educators, and community builders create immersive virtual spaces where people can connect, learn, and collaborate. These Community Guidelines define the standards of conduct that keep Rippily safe, respectful, and creative for everyone.

These Guidelines apply to all users, including account holders, Wave owners, administrators, and guests. They supplement our Terms of Service and apply to all content and interactions on the Platform, including virtual spaces, chat messages, direct messages, profiles, and media.

1. Our Principles

Everything here is built on three principles: respect others, keep everyone safe, and foster creativity that brings people together.

Everything in these Guidelines flows from three principles:

  • Respect: Treat others the way you would want to be treated in a shared space.
  • Safety: Everyone should feel safe to participate, speak, and be themselves.
  • Creativity: Build spaces and experiences that inspire, educate, and bring people together.

2. What We Expect

Be respectful, be honest, contribute positively. Challenge ideas, not people. Use inclusive language and represent yourself accurately.

2.1 Be Respectful

  • Engage with others in good faith and with mutual respect.
  • Disagree constructively. Challenge ideas, not people.
  • Respect the boundaries and comfort levels of others, especially in spaces with audio and video.
  • Use inclusive language and be mindful of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

2.2 Be Honest

  • Represent yourself accurately. Do not impersonate other individuals, organisations, or Rippily staff.
  • Do not misrepresent your qualifications, credentials, or affiliations.
  • Do not create misleading content or engage in deceptive practices.

2.3 Contribute Positively

  • Create spaces and content that add value to the community.
  • Support other creators and participants.
  • Report issues constructively rather than escalating conflict.

3. Prohibited Conduct

No harassment, hate speech, doxxing, sexually explicit content, spam, scams, impersonation, or illegal activity. This is not an adult content platform. Violations lead to enforcement action.

The following conduct is prohibited on Rippily. Violations may result in enforcement action as described in Section 5.

3.1 Harassment and Abuse

  • Bullying, intimidation, or targeted harassment of any individual or group.
  • Threats of violence or harm.
  • Stalking or unwanted persistent contact, including repeated attempts to join spaces after being removed.
  • Sexual harassment, including unwelcome sexual advances, comments, or imagery.

3.2 Privacy Violations

  • Sharing another person’s private information without their consent (doxxing), including real name, address, phone number, workplace, or financial information.
  • Sharing screenshots or recordings of private direct messages without the consent of all parties.
  • Recording or capturing audio, video, or screen content from a Ripple and distributing it without the knowledge and consent of the participants.

3.3 Hate Speech and Discrimination

  • Content or conduct that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Use of slurs, dehumanising language, or hateful symbols.
  • Glorification or promotion of hate groups, extremist ideologies, or terrorist organisations.
  • Recruitment or fundraising for violent or extremist organisations.

3.4 Sexually Explicit Content

  • Pornography, sexually explicit imagery, or nudity.
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery involving real individuals.
  • Sexual solicitation or services.
  • Sexually explicit language or conduct in audio, video, or chat.

Rippily is not an adult content platform. The Platform is accessible to users aged 16 and older, and communities may appear in public discovery. All content must be appropriate for a general audience.

3.5 Harmful Content

  • Content that promotes or glorifies self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders.
  • Graphic violence, gore, or content depicting real-world suffering for shock value.
  • Content that exploits or endangers minors in any way.

3.6 Illegal Activity

  • Content or conduct that violates applicable law, including fraud, money laundering, or incitement to violence.
  • Sharing copyrighted material without authorisation.
  • Facilitating or promoting any illegal activity.

3.7 Regulated Goods and Substances

  • Sale, purchase, or trade of drugs, weapons, tobacco, alcohol, or other regulated goods through the Platform.
  • Promotion of unlicensed pharmaceutical products or controlled substances.

Discussion of regulated topics (including legal substances) within communities is permitted, provided it does not involve transactions, facilitate illegal activity, or target minors. Communities focused on such topics should ensure their content complies with the laws applicable to their members.

3.8 Misinformation

  • Deliberately spreading false information that is likely to cause harm to public health, safety, or democratic processes (e.g., dangerous medical misinformation, fabricated emergency alerts, election interference).
  • Presenting fabricated content (including AI-generated content) as authentic without disclosure.

Rippily is a space for open discussion and diverse perspectives. We distinguish between opinions, debates, and satire — which are welcome — and deliberate disinformation designed to cause real-world harm.

3.9 Deceptive Commercial Activity

  • Multi-level marketing (MLM), pyramid schemes, or similar business models.
  • Undisclosed paid promotions, sponsorships, or affiliate marketing.
  • Offering professional services (medical, legal, financial, therapeutic) while misrepresenting qualifications or without appropriate licensing.

3.10 Spam and Manipulation

  • Unsolicited advertising, promotional content, or commercial solicitation.
  • Repeatedly posting the same or substantially similar content.
  • Creating fake accounts or using automated tools to manipulate the Platform.
  • Artificially inflating engagement metrics, member counts, or discovery rankings.
  • Phishing, scams, or deceptive schemes targeting users.

3.11 Platform Abuse

  • Attempting to access accounts, data, or systems without authorisation.
  • Exploiting bugs, vulnerabilities, or unintended features rather than reporting them.
  • Interfering with the operation of the Platform or degrading the experience for others.
  • Circumventing bans, suspensions, or other enforcement actions.

3.12 Impersonation and Brand Misuse

  • Impersonating Rippily staff, moderators, or official representatives.
  • Using Rippily’s trademarks, brand vocabulary, or reserved names in violation of our Brand & Usage Policy.
  • Creating Waves or content that falsely imply official endorsement or affiliation with Rippily.

4. Responsibilities of Wave Owners

If you run a Wave, you are responsible for actively moderating it, enforcing these guidelines within your space, and being transparent about any external integrations that handle member data.

If you create and manage a Wave (community space), you take on additional responsibilities:

  • Moderation: You are expected to actively moderate your Wave using the tools provided, including member management, banning, and chat controls.
  • Standards: Your Wave must comply with these Community Guidelines. You are responsible for addressing violations that occur within your spaces.
  • Transparency: If you use webhooks or integrations that share participant data with external services, you should inform your community members.
  • Guest Access: If you enable guest access, you are responsible for moderating guest behaviour in your spaces.

Rippily provides moderation tools but does not actively moderate individual Waves unless a violation is reported or we become aware of one. Repeated or severe violations within a Wave may result in enforcement action against the Wave itself, including delisting from discovery or suspension.

5. Enforcement

We use a graduated approach: warnings, content removal, temporary suspension, or permanent ban depending on severity. Serious violations like threats or child exploitation result in immediate action and possible law enforcement referral.

We enforce these Guidelines through a graduated approach, proportional to the severity and frequency of the violation.

5.1 Enforcement Actions

Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, we may take one or more of the following actions:

  1. Warning: A notice that your behaviour or content violates our Guidelines, with a request to correct it.
  2. Content Removal: Removal of specific content that violates our Guidelines.
  3. Temporary Suspension: Temporary restriction of your access to the Platform or specific features.
  4. Permanent Suspension: Permanent removal of your account and access to the Platform.
  5. Wave Action: Delisting a Wave from discovery, restricting its features, or suspending it entirely if it consistently fails to meet community standards.

5.2 Factors We Consider

When determining enforcement actions, we consider:

  • The severity of the violation
  • Whether the behaviour is repeated or part of a pattern
  • The impact on other users
  • Whether the violation appears intentional or accidental
  • The user’s history on the Platform

5.3 Immediate Action

In cases of severe violations — including threats of violence, child exploitation, doxxing, or illegal activity — we may take immediate action without prior warning, including permanent suspension and referral to law enforcement.

Immediate action

Severe violations such as threats of violence, child exploitation, or doxxing may result in permanent suspension without prior warning. We may also refer such cases to law enforcement.

6. Reporting

Use the in-platform reporting tools or email legal@rippily.com. All reports are reviewed confidentially and your identity will not be shared with the reported user.

See something? Report it

Reporting helps keep the community safe. All reports are handled confidentially and your identity will not be shared with the reported user.

If you encounter content or behaviour that violates these Guidelines, please report it:

  • In-platform: Use the reporting tools available within Waves and Ripples (where available).
  • By email: Contact us at legal@rippily.com with details of the violation, including relevant usernames, Wave/Ripple names, and screenshots if possible.

All reports are reviewed by our team. We treat reports confidentially and will not disclose the identity of the reporter to the reported user, except where required by law.

7. Appeals

Email legal@rippily.com within 30 days of any enforcement action. A different team member will review your appeal and respond within 14 days. The appeal decision is final.

If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may appeal by emailing legal@rippily.com within 30 days of the action. Include:

  • Your account email or tagname
  • A description of the enforcement action
  • Why you believe the action was incorrect
  • Any relevant context or evidence

We will review your appeal and respond within 14 days. Appeal decisions are made by a member of our team who was not involved in the original decision. The outcome of the appeal is final.

8. Changes to These Guidelines

These guidelines may be updated over time. We will notify you of material changes through the platform or by email. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time to reflect changes in our platform, community needs, or legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform or by email. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Guidelines.

9. Illegal Content

Under the EU Digital Services Act, you can report content you believe is illegal under EU or Irish law by emailing legal@rippily.com with a description, location, and explanation.

In accordance with the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation 2022/2065), if you become aware of content on the Platform that you consider to be illegal under EU or Irish law, you may notify us at legal@rippily.com. Your notice should include:

  • A description of the content and its location on the Platform (e.g., Wave name, Ripple name, username).
